Wireless technology has come a long way since its inception with the creation of the photo phone by Alexander Graham Bell and Charles Sumner Tainter. Today, wireless technology is being applied in various areas for use in air band and radio navigation, remote controls, cell phones, wireless internet services and satellite television, just to name a few. Wireless technology has now become one of the most popular forms of technology in use.
One of the greatest advantages of wireless technology is that the need of cables for the purpose of connecting two or more points together is eliminated. Cables tend to be bulky and are not practical for use in certain scenarios, for instance when you are on the move. However, with the use of wireless technology, you are able to easily communicate and stay in touch with information. Secondly, wireless technology is incredibly cheap compared to cable technology. This removes the need for installing a wire based technology, as cables tend to be very expensive to buy and maintain. Also, wireless technology is very flexible and can be accessed anywhere.
Concepts based on wireless technology such as Wi-Fi internet access has led to better and faster internet speeds. This can be applied in schools and businesses whereby there will be no need to use cables in order to have a physical connection between computers for internet access. Another perfect example is Bluetooth technology that facilitates data sharing over short distances through the use of mobile phones and other movable devices like laptops.
New advancements are still being made in the area of wireless technology. For instance, a large number of smart phones have features enabling them to access wireless internet. As time goes by, it is expected that wireless technology will not only be applied in electronic gadgets but in other areas such as industries. For instance, a new concept referred to as wireless energy transmission allows electrical energy to be transferred without the use of cables or other conductors from a power source to an electric load. In such a case, some of the risks that occur through tampered cables can be reduced significantly. Furthermore, it leads to more efficiency and speed in job performance.
The future of wireless technology is expected to bring forth innovations that will ease up some of the daily tasks that are tiring to perform, thereby making them simpler.
One example of what the future holds includes a way for motorists to know if the upcoming traffic light will turn red via alerts delivered on smart phones. This can then enable motorists to dodge the red lights and seek other routes. Another possible feature is the use of a new method of data transfer in order to reduce the current bandwidth saturation by allowing the processing of data locally by mobile phones instead of transferring data from long distances to be processed by a server. Wireless technology continues to evolve with new inventions that will improve the life of human beings.
