Amazon Echo Show with video calling functionality

Amazon has launched the Echo Show, an Amazon Alexa device with a touchscreen. This allows you to video call, watch clips online and obviously lets you make use of the popular voice assistant service from Amazon, Alexa.

Amazon Launches the new Amazon Echo Show

The Amazon Echo Show is set to go on sale starting in June for $230. Currently, Amazon is taking pre-orders for the device. And the black version has become their number one seller in the electronics department. The Amazon Echo is an extremely successful device and this newer version builds on that success.

The Echo Show comes with a lot of features that take advantage of the built-in touch screen. It allows you to make Video calls with other users of Amazon Echo devices or Alexa application, it lets you stream video from YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, CNN, etc. This is a huge step from Amazon as this screen is widely missing in devices offered by rivals such as Google.

This launch shows Amazon's latest effort to try to make Alexa a vital part of people's lives, thus increasing sales, subscriptions, etc. Other companies like Google with their devices are taking a lot of time to introduce new features. On the other hand, Amazon keeps on giving its users newer features and products making their lives simpler.

The Echo Dot will remain the most sold Amazon Echo product due to the cheap price. And Amazon Echo will stay the first and best voice-based speaker in the market. The new Echo Show will also find a newer chunk of the market thus making it more competitive with devices like the Google Home.

Amazon had also unveiled a voice-controlled camera the Amazon Echo Look last month. Along which came an application that recommends its users what to wear for the day.

This new launch also makes it more difficult for newer players to get in the market. Microsoft yesterday announced its plans to get into this market. Microsoft also shared with us they are working on a similar device with Harman Kardon.
