Apple iPhone 8 to be called iPhone X, to come with reassigned Siri key

Apple's upcoming iPhone is one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year considering it's the 10th anniversary iPhone. Apple has a launch event around the corner where they are allegedly launching the iPhone 8 alongside the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus. We have had enough leaks and rumours of the upcoming iPhone as we usually get for most of the anticipated devices.

As the date of launch is coming closer, we are getting to know more about the alleged iPhone 8. Recent reports have suggested that Apple might change the traditional way to launch Siri on the upcoming iPhones. Since the introduction of Siri with the iPhone 4s, long pressing the home button has been used to call up the voice assistant. As per the earlier leaks and rumours suggest, the upcoming iPhone will have a full-screen display with minimal bezels which will result in no physical home button.

So how will users call up Siri? Yes, the "Hey Siri" will always work, but on the physical button side, the things will be changed. Users will now be able to bring up the voice assistant using the power button which also functions to sleep or wake the device. This report regarding the change of the assigned key comes from Twitter, where Guilherme Rambo, a iOS Developer has tweeted about the change.

Meanwhile, there also have been some confusions regarding the name of the upcoming iPhone. Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 8 will be called the iPhone Edition as it is the 10th Anniversary iPhone. Now a report from a Dutch website iCulture, suggest that the next iPhone will be called the iPhone X and not the iPhone 8 or iPhone Edition. The website claims that this report comes from a "reliable source" who works for some global telecom company.

Apple will be having a launch event on September 12 in California where the company will take the wraps off the much awaited iPhone 8. Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus along with the new Apple TV 4K and the Apple Watch 3 with LTE support.
