Asus ROG Phone launched: Here are the Top 5 Alternatives

The ROG Logo on the back of the Asus ROG Phone has RGB lighting

The Taiwanese tech giant, Asus has finally taken the wraps off the much awaited ROG Phone. The Asus ROG Phone enhances your Android gaming experience and gives a tough competition to the likes of the Razer Phone. The highlights of the smartphone include its 90Hz OLED display and Snapdragon 845.

Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Asus ROG phone comes with the top of the line hardware under the hood. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC clocked at 2.96GHz coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. The device features a 6-inch OLD display with a resolution of 2160x1080, an aspect ratio of 18:9 and 90Hz refresh rate. The dual-SIM handset packs in 8GB of RAM coupled with either 128GB or 512GB of onboard storage. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with a custom UI layered on top of it. Under the hood, there is a 4,000mAh battery with ROG HyperCharge support.

On the optics front, the Asus ROG Phone sports a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel and an 8-megapixel sensor. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.

Alternatives

Though Asus has officially launched the ROG Phone, there are no price and availability details out yet. However, here's a lift of a few gaming smartphones that you can buy right now.

Xiaomi BlackShark

Xiaomi-backed Black Shark was launched recently in China. The smartphone is a great alternative to the ROG Phone as it is also as good on the performance side. However, the BalckShark smartphone does not come with higher refresh rate display like the ROG Phone. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM.

Razer Phone

Just like Asus ROG, Razer is also known for its PC gaming hardware. Razer was the first company to step into the Android mobile gaming world. The Razer Phone features a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with 120Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate is higher on the Razer Phone, but the Asus ROG Phone comes with an OLED display which is much better technology. Also, as the Razer Phone was launched last year, it comes with Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood.

ZTE Nubia Red Magic

ZTE-owned Nubia recently launched their first gaming-oriented smartphone, the Nubia Red Magic. The Red Magic is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The smartphone features a 6-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of  1080x2160 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio.
