Asus Zenfone 6 with flip camera, Snapdragon 855 SoC launched: Price, specifications and availability

Asus Zenfone 6 with a motorised flip camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, full-screen display launched will soon be launched in India.

Asus Zenfone 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with an Adreno 640 GPU.

Asus Zenfone 6 has been launched in Spain at a press event. It is the successor to last year's Asus Zenfone 5Z and is also the first smartphone from the company to feature a full-screen display paired with a flip camera. The dual camera module sits on the back, however, when required can flip to become the front camera.

This is an interesting implementation of the flip camera mechanism as now users can stop the camera at any flip angle to take interesting shots. The camera module just like the motorised pop-up selfie camera module on the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with fall protection. With this feature, if the device is going to fall, it will automatically retract the camera module.

Asus Zenfone 6: Price

Asus Zenfone 6 will be made available in three: 6GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB RAM/256GB storage priced at Euro 499 (approximately Rs. 39,000), Euro 559 (approximately Rs. 43,800) and Euro 599 (approximately Rs. 47,000). The device will come in two colour options - Midnight Black and Twilight Silver.

Asus Zenfone 6: Specifications

Asus Zenfone 6 sports a 6.4-inch full HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels with a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with an Adreno 640 GPU. The device will come with 6GB/8GB of RAM along with 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

It will run the company's own Zen UI 6 software based on Google's Android 9.0 Pie operating system. The company has promised that it will be updating the software to Android Q and Android R, whenever they come. All of this will be backed by a 5,000mAh non-removable battery with support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.

As far as the optics go, the device will sport a motorised flippable dual camera setup, which will consist of a 48-megapixel primary sensor paired with a secondary 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor. The camera will come with laser auto-focus and a dual LED flash module.
