Google to release Android Go powered Android One smartphone this MWC

Technological giant, Google announced their latest project, Android 8.0 Oreo Go Edition at Google I/O 2017. However so many months after that announcement, we till haven't seen a smartphone running Android Go. Also, we haven't seen a complete ROM as a matter of fact. The company claims that the program will help improve the budget smartphone ecosystem.

After a long wait, the company has now officially said something about its devices. According, to the company, devices running Android Go will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress ( MWC 2018). this year. The company also claims that the handset will be priced at less than $50. In addition to that Google is also expected to push its augmented reality dreams. They will do the same by launching the ARCore at the event.

What to expect apart from Android Go this MWC by Google?

The company, in a blog post, briefly described what we can expect from the company at MWC this year. MWC is expected to begin in Barcelona on Monday. While major OEM's like Samsung, LG, and Nokia show off their newest smartphone, Google will also show off their products. According to the Senior Vice President of Google's Platforms & Ecosystems, Hiroshi Lockheimer we can see new products. These new products can be a revamped Google assistant and Google Lens. However, the spotlight of the event will be the devices running Android Go Edition.

For those unknown, Android Go is a trimmed down version of Android 8.1 Oreo. It is aimed at low-cost smartphones. For comparison, it is aimed at smartphones with only 512MB of RAM and packs a slew of apps for a low processor and internet usage. It will come bundled with some apps like Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go, Google Assistant Go, and Files Go. These Go edition apps will be present instead of normal Google's Android apps.

Some Expected Android Go phones

HMD Global owned Nokia is expected to launch Nokia 1. Nokia 1 will be an Android Go edition smartphone. However, we have rumors of Reliance Jio and Micromax to also launch Android Go edition smartphones.

Lately, a report says that the company is planning on pushing hard for AR in Barcelona. They plan it to make it available on 100 Million Android smartphones by the end of 2018. With a hard push for ARCore and their statement to come up with ARCore this year makes one thing certain. ARCore will be launching this MWC for sure.
