HTC U11, U11+ and U12+ to soon receive Android 9 Pie update

While Google is preparing to release the first developer preview of Android Q, OEMs like HTC are still struggling to roll out Android 9.0 Pie for their smartphones. The company has finally announced that it will soon be rolling out the Android Pie update for some of its popular devices before June 2019.

HTC made the announcement via their official Twitter handle. The list of devices only includes three smartphones, U11, U11+ and U12+. The only HTC smartphone currently running on Android Pie is the U11 Life as that is a part of Google's Android One program and received the update back in November 2018.

HTC U12+ Specifications

The U12+ features a 6-inch Super LCD display with a resolution of 2880x1440 pixels. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. The device packs in 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable using a microSD card. All of this is backed by a 3,500mAh battery.

On the optics front, the U12+ sports a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup at the back coupled with a dual-tone dual-LED flash. Up front, there is a dual-camera setup consisting of two 8-megapixel sensors.
