HTC has just unveiled their latest mid-range smartphone the HTC U12 Life. Here are some alternatives available in India.

HTC U12 Life features a dual-tone design at the back

The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer, HTC has launched its new mid-range smartphone, the HTC U12 Life in Europe. The highlights of the smartphone include the dual-tone back design and the dual-camera setup at the back. The company has not yet revealed whether they will bring the smartphone to India or not. In Europe, the HTC U12 Life is available at a price tag of EUR 349 (roughly Rs. 28,900).

Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, the HTC U12 Life features a 6-inch LTPS display panel with a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. The dual-SIM handset packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Under the hood, there is a 3,600mAh battery which charges using a USB-TypeC port on the device.

On the optics front, the HTC U12 Life sports a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 16-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there is a 13-megapixel selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.

Alternatives

The HTC U12 Life will most likely not make its way to India. Even if it does, at the price of around Rs. 30,000 there are better alternatives available.

Xiaomi Mi A2

Xiaomi recently launched the Mi A2 Android One smartphone in India and even though it is available for almost half the price of the HTC U12 Life, it comes with a way more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The smartphone packs in up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The Mi A2 is available in India at a starting price of Rs. 16,999.

Xiaomi Poco F1

Poco F1 comes with a notch up front

Xiaomi recently shook the smartphone industry by launching the Poco F1. The Poco F1 comes with flagship grade specifications at a price of a budget smartphone. In case you are willing to give up on the premium look that the U12 Life provides, the Poco F1 can offer way better specifications. The Poco F1 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and it is available at a starting price of Rs. 20,999.

OnePlus 6

OnePlus 6 features a glass sandwich design

At a price of EUR 349, the HTC U12 competes against the likes of the OnePlus 6 and the Asus ZenFone 5Z. However, at that price, the OnePlus 6 offers way better specifications and is just a better overall package. The OnePlus 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The OnePlus 6 can be yours at a starting price of Rs. 34,999.
