Infinix Hot 6 Pro launched: Reasons not to buy and alternatives available

Infinix just launched the Hot 6 Pro in India. Here's why you should avoid this and which ones you should look for.

Infinix Hot 6 Pro looks quite similar to the OnePlus 5T from the back

Infinix, a Hong-Kong based smartphone manufacturer has launched a new budget smartphone in India. The Infinix Hot 6 Pro comes with a FullVision display and packs in a massive 4,000mAh battery. The smartphone gives direct competition to the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the 10.or G.

Specifications

In terms of specifications, the Infinix Hot 6 Pro features a 5.99-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with the Adreno 308 GPU. The dual-SIM handset packs in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Under the hood, there is a 4,000mAh battery powering up everything.

On the optics front, the Infinix Hot 6 Pro sports a dual camera setup at the back consisting of a 13-megapixel wide-angle primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with a LED flash.

Reasons not to buy

  • Software
The Infinix Hot 6 Pro runs on Google's Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box. The company has layered its own skin on top of the operating system. The customised skin is not well optimised and makes the whole UI quite sluggish.
  • Processor
There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC powering up the Infinix Hot 6 Pro. The chipset is quite old as per today's standards. Also, the competition is offering a much better chipset.

Alternatives

Xiaomi Redmi 5

Xiaomi Redmi 5 features an 18:9 display up front

Xiaomi Redmi 5 sports a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC coupled with 2GB, 3GB or 4GB of RAM. For storage, the dual-SIM handset is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options. The Redmi 5 is available at a starting price of Rs. 7,999.

10.or G

10.or G sports a dual-camera setup at the back

10.or G offers much better specifications when compared to the Infinix Hot 6 Pro. However, what you lose here is the 18:9 panel as the 10.or G comes with a traditional 16:9 panel. The 10.or G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone is available at a starting price of Rs. 7,699.
