LG V30+ Hands-on Review: Will this smartphone be able to turn the tides for LG?

The South Korean Giant, LG launched their flagship LG V30+ earlier this year. The V30+ is one of the best phones launched by LG ever.

The South Korean Giant, LG launched their flagship LG V30+ earlier this year. The V30+ is one of the best phones launched by LG ever. It is a true flagship and stays true to the V series name by providing the best experience with high performing hardware and roughness of the old school devices.

Specifications

Passing the 801G US military certified the LG V30+ packs a punch with the latest Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of ram and 128GB for never-ending storage. Along with that it also has a micro-sd slot of up to 2TB. It sports a 6-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440×2880 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 32-bit Quad Hi-Fi Quad DAC for an immersive audio experience. It is all powered by a 3,300 mAH battery.

For the optics, the LG V30+ has a dual camera setup at the back. Including a 16MP and a 13MP wide angle sensor, with f/1.6 aperture and f/1.8 aperture respectively. The front camera is a 5MP wide-angle with a f/2.2 aperture.

Design

With an all glass and metal design, the LG V30+ feels premium in hand. The corning gorilla glass at the front and the back makes the phone quite durable but makes it a fingerprint magnet. The USB-C charging port along with a 3.5mm 32-bit Quad Hi-Fi Quad DAC is at the bottom. The rear hosts a dual camera setup with flash and the fingerprint sensor in the middle in a convenient place.

The 18:9 aspect ratio in the front helps to fit a massive 6-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 1440×2880 pixels display in a convenient to handle shell. It looks like a true 2017 flagship plus the headphone jack.

Camera

The LG V30+ has a dual camera setup at the back with a 16MP primary sensor and another 13MP wide angle sensor, with f/1.6 aperture and f/1.8 aperture respectively. For the selfie lovers, the front camera is a 5MP f/2.2 aperture sensor.

Normal
Wide-Angle

The camera of the LG V30+ is truly amazing and lives up to the flagship expectation. The rear camera shoots beautiful shots with great focus and great lighting. The Wide Angle sensor does a great job of capturing more details with equally good quality.

Front Camera

The front camera is equally as good with the wide-angle camera doing its job in capturing more of the frame for groupies. But the front camera sensor is only 5MP which shows when zooming the photo. It results in a smaller image size, suitable for sharing online, as a result, it produces a hazy image when viewing it on a big screen. It is a fair trade-off.

LG said it has pre-built image modes for all type of photography with iso, shutter speed and all fixed for different scenarios but we weren't able to check that.

Conclusion

The LG V30+ is a great device to grab at the price of ₹44,990. With a great camera, good design, sturdy build and an above average battery life, the V30+ won't disappoint you. Furthermore, it is cheaper than its competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. For the early adopters, LG is giving out one-time free screen replacement along with a free wireless charger and in-app content for partner apps. Sale starts 18th December on Amazon.in and Pre-Booking has already started.
