MediaTek just launched its Dimensity 8200 flagship-level chipset for premium smartphones. The new chipset is based on the 4nm process technology. It comes with HyperEngine 6.0, which brings in support for Vulkan SDK for raytracing in gaming, FPS improvement and smart resource optimisation.

The new Dimensity 8200 is the company's first product in the series to come with one "big" CPU core (Cortex-A78 at 3.1 GHz), three performance cores at 3.0 GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz.

The new chipset brings in improved camera support and Imagiq 785 ISP. The biggest improvement is the HyperEngine, which is a set of features dedicated to improving gaming performance in smartphones.

Devices powered by the Dimensity 8200 will be able to intelligently adapt the refresh rate when a game is powered according to the frame rate.

Connectivity wise the chipset comes with support for dual 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and downlink speed. The max refresh rate has increased a bit, but it will be dependent on the manufacturers to enable the feature on their smartphones.
