With the Meizu C9, the company is looking forward to tightening up the competition against brands like Xiaomi. Read our first impressions to know more
Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Meizu recently hosted an event in New Delhi, India, where they unveiled three new smartphones. One of those smartphones was the entry level, Meizu C9. We got the chance to lay our hands on the device for some time and here are our first impressions.
Meizu C9 sports a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. It is powered by a new UNISOC chip clocked at 1.3GHz. The dual-SIM handset packs in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.
In the camera department, Meizu C9 comes with a single 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a LED flash. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper.
Meizu C9 is an entry-level smartphone offering from the company. The phone does not shout that out with its build and design. It comes with a polycarbonate back, which does not feel cheap. The handset comes with an 18:9 display, which at this price is quite surprising. However, the bezels are relatively large when you compare it to more expensive phones.
One of the most interesting parts of the C9 is its software. Unlike other Meizu smartphones, this one runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo, thanks to Google's Android Go program. It helps the phone in performing better and providing better battery life to the consumer.
In the time we spent with the device, it really impressed us considering the price tag of Rs. 5,999. With the C9, Meizu is looking forward to competing against the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. Now, the question is, how well will it perform against the competition. To find an answer to that, you will need to wait for our full review, which is coming shortly.
