MIUI 11 update to roll out starting October 22: Here's everything you need to know

Xiaomi has unveiled the set of features that will be introduced with MIUI 11. Here's everything you need to know.

MIUI 11 comes with a ton of new features and customizations.

Xiaomi has recently launched the Redmi Note 8 series in India. At the launch event, the company announced the upcoming features on the much-awaited MIUI 11 software. The update will be made available for a few Xiaomi devices starting October 22. Here are the complete details about the roll-out, features and more.

When will you get the MIUI 11 update?

Xiaomi is all set to roll out the update for the Poco F1, Redmi K20, Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7s and the Redmi Note 7 Pro in between October 22 to October 31. The flagship Redmi K20 Pro will be receiving the update starting November 4 alongside other devices like Redmi 6, 6 Pro, 6A, Redmi Note 5, Note 5 Pro, Redmi 5, 5A, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Y1, Y1 Lite, Y2, Mi Mix 2 as well as the Mi Max 2.

Redmi K20 will get the update before the K20 Pro.

As for the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 7A and the Redmi 8 series, the update will be pushed in Phase 3 between November 13 to November 29. The recently launched Redmi Note 8 Pro will be the last to receive the update on December 18.

What changes does MIUI 11 bring?

First of all, MIUI 11 should not be confused with the Android operating system update. Most devices mentioned above will run on Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 11. However, the Redmi K20 series will get the Android 10 update alongside the new UI update.

As for the set of features, the new update brings a new minimalistic design with polished colours. The company has also added Dark Mode and promises the ultimate full-screen experience with the new update.

MIUI 11 brings Dynamic Wallpapers and Dynamic Video Wallpapers, which as the name suggests allows moving wallpapers or videos from the gallery to be used as the wallpaper. For the lock screen, Xiaomi has worked with Glance for lock screen images that change every time you see your phone. The company claims that they have enough gallery to provide 2 billion unique images per day.

Dynamic Wallpapers are quite attractive.

Xiaomi has also worked on something called "Mi Work" in order to bring more features related to documents. Now, users can thumbnails for documents in the Mi File Manager app. Also, the company has collaborated with WPS in order to allow users to preview any document without needing to install any additional application.

For the health of its customers, MIUI 11 brings steps tracker as well as women's health section where they can add their mensuration cycle to the calendar to keep a track of everything.

Mint Keyboard is focused towards the Indian consumers.

Apart from that, MIUI 11 brings a new keyboard, the Mint Keyboard. It is built in partnership with a Delhi-based startup, Bobble. Thew new keyboard brigs support for over 26 languages including English and Hindi. It also brings fonts, stickers, GIFs and much more.

Notably, the company has also added some customisation options to the flagship Redmi K20 series. Since these phones come with AMOLED panels, the users can now get a Dynamic Clock on the Always-on-Display. There are also blossom patters and customisable AODs available. MIUI 11 also brings a breathe effect on AOD to work as a notification light.
