HMD Global the parent company of Nokia earlier this year had announced the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and the Nokia 3310 in India. Currently only the Nokia 3 is available in the market and nothing is known about the other devices. In a statement today, HMD Global has said that the Nokia 5 nd 6 will not be available until mid-August.
HMD Global gave a statement to NokiaPowerUser, saying that the company is overwhelmed by India's response to the Nokia 3, and they would bring the Nokia 5 and 6 to India for sale by mid-August.
“We are humbled by the response to Nokia 3. Currently, we are ramping up our production for Nokia 3 on priority to meet the existing consumer demand. In the coming week, we will start production of Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 to get them ready for sales start by mid-August,”
HMD Global said in a statement.
When we contacted HMD Global's representative we got the same response. It might mean that HMD Global wants to start the sale of its devices on India's Independence Day, August 15. Though, the company during last week had started the pre-bookings for the Nokia 5 which would be an offline exclusive smartphone. They did not give any dates as to when the pre-bookings will be fulfilled.
On the other hand, we know that the Nokia 6 will be an Amazon exclusive device. HMD Global will start the registrations on July 14. However, Even the Nokia 6 will be only available to the customers in mid-August. The Nokia 3 currently sells at Rs. 9,499, the Nokia 5 is priced at Rs. 12,899, and the Nokia 6 is priced at Rs. 14,999.
