Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus was recently surrounded by rumours to release an updated version of the OnePlus X. The company launched the OnePlus X long time ago and it never picked up. The new version dubbed the OnePlus X2 will be an upgrade to the device. However, Carl Pei, OnePlus CEO and Founder have put an end to all these rumours. Carl Pei took to Twitter to make it clear. He clearly denied any rumours of the company launching the second-generation OnePlus X. In other words, the company denied any rumours of refreshing the X lineup.
It all started when TechPP reported that OnePlus is working on refreshing the OnePlus X lineup. According to the report, the OnePlus X2 would be released alongside the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus X2 along with the OnePlus 6 is likely to launch in June this year. As the original OnePlus X was a mid-segment device, the new OnePlus X2 will also be a mid-segment device. It is speculated to be available at a price of Rs 15,000 and Rs 17,000 in India if it ever launches.
The OnePlus X2 according to the rumours would be a 5.5-inch 16:9 display device. It will be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It will come in either 32 or 64GB storage. For the optics, it will sport a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper with Face Unlock. All of this will be powered by a 3000mAh battery. However, Carl Pei has denied all such rumours.
This is not the first time we have seen rumours of OnePlus making plans to launch the OnePlus X2 in the market. However, back in 2016, Pete Leu told Engadget in an interview that the company has no plans for the follow-up model to the OnePlus X. This is due to the fact that the company faced a lot of criticism due to the OnePlus X
The original OnePlus X sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display along Snapdragon 801 processor. It has 3GB RAM and a premium metal and glass body. The phone was priced at Rs 16,999.
