Yesterday, we got to see a major stir in the global smartphone market, with reports claiming that Oppo and OnePlus are exiting key European markets. These markets included the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and France. Both companies have now denied the claims.

They have both issued official statements saying that they are not leaving the markets and are dedicated to serving customers in the European markets.

OnePlus Global PR Manager James Patterson told Tech Advisor, "OnePlus will not exit from Europe and the UK and maintains stable operations in local markets. OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide more innovative product and solutions to its users."

Oppo in an email sent out to the press stated, "We had a great start in 2023 with the successful launches of several products in Europe and have a line-up of upcoming products for the rest of the year. As always, Oppo will continue to provide more innovative products and the best-in-class service for users moving forward."

While you could call this reading too much into the text, it is worth wondering that Oppo only has mentioned its plans for this year, rather than stating that it has a long-term commitment to Europe. While OnePlus states that it will "continue to invest in Europe and provide more innovative product and solutions." OnePlus specifically mentions product, making us think it will only be launching a single product, but will keep launching new services.

To recall, OnePlus recently launched its OnePlus 11 flagship smartphone in Europe and other global markets. Oppo Find N2 Flip is now also available in multiple global markets including the European markets. However, take note, Oppo Find X6 Pro, which is the company's main flagship device is not being launched outside of China.
