Samsung has launched Bixby 2.0: Everything you need to know

Samsung recently announced Bixby voice support in India. Now the company has introduced a more advanced and much-improved version of the voice assistant, the Bixby 2.0. The voice assistant by Samsung was initially introduced with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. The Bixby 2.0 brings improvements and now it is also open to all developers which will bring more features to it in near future.

Eui-Suk Chung, Samsung executive vice president, said, “Bixby 2.0 will be ubiquitous, available on any and all devices. This means having the intelligence of Bixby, powered by the cloud, act as the control hub of your device ecosystem, including mobile phones, TVs, refrigerators, home speakers, or any other connected technology you can imagine.”

“When we think about Bixby, we don’t think about it as a voice gateway on a single device. We think of it as a service across all devices in the home — TVs, appliances, even cars,” said, David Eun, President, Samsung Next.

When Bixby was first announced, there were fewer people who showed interest in it due to lack of certain features or capabilities. However, now as the voice assistant has been made open to all developers, it can soon compete against the popular voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and Cortana. According to Eui-Suk Chung, the Bixby 2.0 will be a powerful intelligent assistant platform that will bring a connected experience.

Initially, Bixby was introduced to control certain tasks or applications on the smartphone. With the new Bixby 2.0, the voice assistant will now be able to control smart home devices.
