Sony Xperia XZ2 launched in India: Price, Specifications and Alternatives

Sony Xperia XZ2 just launched in India for a premium of Rs. 72,990 and here are some alternatives available.

Sony first unveiled their 2018 flagship Xperia XZ2 back in MWC this year. The smartphone has now finally made its way to India. The Sony Xperia XZ2 is priced at Rs. 72,990 and it directly competes against the likes of Apple iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S9+. The key highlights of the smartphone include its HDR display and 4k HDR video recording capability.

Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Sony Xperia XZ2 features a 5.7-inch TRILUMINOS HDR display with a resolution of 1080x2160 pixels and an X-Reality display engine. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The dual-SIM handset packs in 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 400GB using a microSD card. The smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. All of this is backed by a 3,180mAh battery which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

On the optics front, the Sony Xperia XZ2 sports a 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera at the back with autofocus burst, predictive hybrid autofocus, 4K HDR recording, 960fps super slow motion, 8x digital zoom and SteadyShot technology. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter with wide angle lens and SteadyShot.

Alternatives

Sony Xperia XZ2 looks good on paper but it is a bit costly. At a similar price range, there are better smartphones available. So, here are the alternatives for the Xperia XZ2.

Samsung Galaxy S9+

Samsung Galaxy S9+ is the perfect alternative to the Sony Xperia XZ2. The smartphone is powered by the Exynos 9810 octa-core processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. The Galaxy S9+ boasts a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440x2960 pixels. The device also comes with a bunch of extra useful features like Samsung Pay, Always-on Display and Super Slow-Mo video recording. The Galaxy S9+ is available at a starting price of Rs. 55,900.

Apple iPhone X

Apple iPhone X bears a dual-camera setup at the back

If you are willing to spend more money, the Apple iPhone X can be a great option. The smartphone comes with a stunning design and has no bezels on the sides and the bottom. Yes, it does have a notch but that packs in the powerful selfie camera alongside the FaceID tech. Apple iPhone X is available at a starting price of Rs. 88,999.

Google Pixel XL

Google Pixel XL has one of the best smartphone cameras of 2017. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. The handset runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will be one of the first smartphones to get the Android P update.
