From Xiaomi Redmi 5A to Vivo Y71, Here are the top 5 most selling smartphones of the second-quarter of 2018.
Smartphones like the Apple iPhone X and the Samsung Galaxy S9+ are one of the best smartphones available out there. However, when it comes to the top 5 most selling smartphones in India, these flagships don't even come anywhere close. The phones like Xiaomi Redmi 5A and Vivo Y71 made it to the list because of their pricing or marketing strategies.
According to the Counterpoint research, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A was the most selling smartphone in India in the second-quarter of 2018. The smartphone is one of the most popular choices when it comes to entry-level Android smartphones. The Redmi 5A made it to the top of the list by covering 9 per cent of the market share.
With not much of a surprise, the second spot on the top 5 list is also held by a Xiaomi smartphone. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro which is currently one of the most popular choices in the mid-range segment holds 6 per cent of the market share. The smartphone is popular because of its pricing, performance as well as a tremendous battery life. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is available at a starting price of Rs. 14,999.
Samsung recently launched the mid-range Galaxy J6 is India and it has already made it to the top 5 list of most selling smartphones of Q2 2018. The Samsung Galaxy J6 is marked third with covering 5 per cent market share. Samsung Galaxy J6 offers a Super AMOLED Infinity display at an affordable price point. The base variant of the smartphone can be grabbed for Rs. 13,990.
Again with not much of a surprise, the fourth position is held by the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Just like the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Redmi Note 5 also delivers decent performance and a great battery life at an affordable price point. The smartphone is available in two variants and while the top-end variant is priced at Rs. 11,999, you can grab the base variant for only Rs. 9,999.
Vivo Y71 secured the fifth position in the top 5 most selling smartphones list. The Vivo Y71 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. Though the specifications here do not justify the price, the smartphone was still able to make it to the list due to Vivo's strong marketing stratergy.
