Top announcements from the Apple March Event 2018

Apple decided to host its annual spring event at an unusual place. The company moved the place of its annual spring event to all the way in Chicago. What's more interesting is, it moved it to a High School in Chicago. As this event was aimed at increasing company's presence in the educational market. This company was on point with the location. Apple is trying to take over the educational market currently dominated by Microsoft and Google. Here is the biggest news from the event.

Cheaper Educational iPad

For most of the people, the most important announcement of the event was the new iPad. The company calls it is the Educational iPad. It is the most affordable one yet. Also, it comes with Apple Pencil support. However, the affordable part is debatable. It costs $299 for schools and $329 for normal people. $329 is the price of its 9.7-inch iPad the company announced last year. However, it packs few updates. Most notable one is that it works with the Apple Pencil. This support was only available to iPad Pro's earlier. The Pencil costs $99 and schools/teachers can get $10 off.

The new education iPad Comes with Touch ID, an HD FaceTime camera, an 8-megapixel rear camera. It also sports the last generation Apple’s A10 Fusion chip. The company claims 10 hours of battery life. Both the non-LTE and LTE versions will be available.

Logitech Crayon Stylus

Since the new iPad works with Apple Pencil and it is not cheap. Apple has announced a cheap third party compatible Pencil alternative. The new Logitech crayon looks more playful with its name and design. It sports orange bands to make it look a little less boring. Also, it packs a price tag of only $49.

The company also says, that there will be a $99 Logitech keyboard case in the future. It will be rugged design, made to make your iPad more durable. This is because schools can be rough.

Updates to the iWork

The company announced the new version of iWork. Most of the updates are software based. The most important change is the support for Apple Pencil. For example, Pages include a Digital Book Creation tool that lets teachers and students build books. Apps like Numbers can be used to create lab reports. Such kind of updates is packed into the whole slew of Apple iWork Apps.
