What to do with your old gadgets when you get new ones

In the fast-moving and evergrowing technology world, people tend to upgrade their gadgets often. The smartphones, tablets and even PCs get better and better with their new generations. Design to performance, everything has been made better over the ages. Sometimes it is easy to get a new device in order to get rid of the old one and enjoy the new technology. However, people sometimes get confused on what should be done with their old devices. Here are some solutions to what to do with your old devices instead of simply getting rid of them.

Your Old Smartphone can be your TV Remote

If your smartphone has an IR blaster, you can easily make it a universal remote to control all the appliances at your home or office. However, if your old smartphone does not have an IR blaster, you can get one for a coupled of bucks which will attach to the 3.5mm jack of your smartphone and convert it to a universal remote. You can also use your old smartphone to control smart home devices including smart TVs.

Your old PC monitor can do other functions as well

So you have finally got a new monitor with better resolution? You can even use your old monitor if its still working. A PC can take more than one monitor which might help in a widescreen setup. You can use your old monitor as a secondary monitor to perform various functions like doing multiple things at the same time.

If you are not interested in a dual monitor setup, you can also use your old monitor as a small TV. just spend a coupled of bucks in buying the Chromecast and now you can use your monitor as a TV. You can now stream movies and videos via the Chromecast which can be shown on your old monitor. however, you will also need to invest a little more money in a good speaker system to make this setup work.

Converting your old speaker system into a wireless one

So you have an old speaker system which sounds good enough and has that good amount of bass? Sadly, those old speaker systems do not have Bluetooth or any kind of wireless connection. However, Google has a solution for you. Google launched the Chromecast Audio a while ago which can convert your old powerful speaker system into a wireless one. You just need to spend a couple of bucks on a Chromecast audio device and install it with your speaker system. Now you can wirelessly play your favourite music with powerful sound and bass on your old speaker system.

Sell or Donate

If none of the above interests you, you can always sell your gadgets on websites like eBay, OLX, Quik, Cashify, etc. Selling your old gadget in a good condition might get you some money which you can then invest somewhere else.

However, you can also donate your gadgets to some NGOs via various platforms like DonateYourPC and Budli.
