Xiaomi Mi A1 will soon get a stable release of Android 9.0 Pie

Xiaomi recently rolled out the official Android Pie update for Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. Now, the company is working on bringing the update to the last year's Mi A1. The users who just cannot wait can start using the new operating system under the Chinese firm's beta program. Here's how to install the software and what it offers.

Android 9.0 Pie brings in a lot of features like gesture-based navigation and digital wellbeing. It also adds options like app actions and brings in a new simplified UI. The latest version of Android will improve the performance and battery life of the Xiaomi Mi A1.

Xiaomi has started a beta program where Mi A1 users can register themselves to revive the new OTA update. It weighs in at around 1.1GB and brings Android 9 Pie to the table along with the latest December security patch. Interested users can head over to the Mi community in order to be a part of the Beta program. If you are not able to get into the program, you can use the Android Pie Beta zip file to manually flash the update.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Specifications

Xiaomi Mi A2 sports a 5.5-inch FullHD IPS LCD display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2GHz. The dual-SIM handset packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable via a microSD card. All of this is backed by a 3,100mAh battery.

On the optics front, Xiaomi Mi A1 features a dual-cameras setup at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel wide angle and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.
