Xiaomi has quietly launched two new Redmi branded smartphones, Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+. It has quietly added both the smartphones on its global website, just a day after it unveiled its Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ smartphones globally.

Redmi A2, Redmi A2+

Both the Redmi A2 and the A2+ are entry level smartphones. Both the devices come with similar specifications, including a 6.52-inch display with a resolution of 1600x720 pixels. They are powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 chipset and come with 2GB/3GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage.

Both feature a dual camera setup at the back consisting of an 8-megapixel primary sensor paired with a QVGA auxiliary lens. They are backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. Surprisingly, in this day and age of USB Type-c, the devices come with a microUSB port. They run Google's Android 12 (Go Edition) operating system. There is no support for 5G networks, but they do come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The only differentiator for the Redmi A2+ is that it comes with a capacitive fingerprint sensor at the back.

Both the devices will be made available in three colour options: light blue, light green, and black. The company has not revealed which markets are both these devices targeted at or when these will be made in the target markets. We do think, that it will launch these in the Indian market, however, when inquired the company did not provide us with a statement.
