Chinese Electronics Manufacturer, Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi 5 in India. As the company is seen building hype around the product since last few weeks, it is safe to assume it will launch soon. Also, Xiaomi is holding an event in India next week, so that might be it. While not much is known about the device, we know a lot of information from the teasers. The last week teased it into being a compact powerhouse. Now the company launched another teaser hinting it will be Amazon India Exclusive.
Also, Amazon India has set up a new webpage. The new webpage mentions about the Redmi 5. It also confirms the fact that the Redmi 5 will be exclusive to its platform. However, with Xiaomi's plan to expand into the offline market and it selling its products on Mi.com and Mi home store. The product being Amazon Exclusive is a little bit doubtful. Also, the page lists the product as coming soon. However, it also has a notify me button. This will let users know of any updates on the product.
Also, this webpage has a mention of the 3 PM time. This most likely means the launch time is 3 PM. This means the launch event may be scheduled for 3 PM on March 14. However, the invite for the event has not been sent to the media yet, so we can't confirm this being true or not.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is speculated to have a dual SIM (Nano) slot like all Xiaomi phones nowadays. Also, it will run Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box with MIUI 9 skin on top. The Redmi 5 will sport a 5.7-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. For the processor, the Redmi 5 can be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor. This may be coupled with 2GB/ 3GB/ 4GB RAM variants and 16GB/ 32GB storage.

In terms of price in India, the Redmi 5 will be definitely priced below the higher specced Redmi Note 5 starting at a base price of Rs. 9,999. So expect the this to start at anywhere between the Rs 6,000 - Rs 8,000 range.
