Xiaomi Redmi 6 receives a price cut in India: Here's why it is a better deal now

Xiaomi has announced a price cut of Rs. 1,500 on the Redmi 6 in India. Here's everything you need to know about the new pricing

The budget-oriented Xiaomi Redmi 6 is now cheaper than ever

Xiaomi has recently dropped the prices of some of its smartphones including the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi A2, Redmi Y2 and the Redmi 6 Pro. Now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has announced a price cut for the more budget-friendly Redmi 6 smartphone in India. The new prices are effective starting January 7 via both online and offline markets.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 originally came with a starting price of Rs. 8,999. Now the base variant with 32GB of storage is available at just Rs. 7,999. While the 64GB variant was priced at Rs. 10,499 earlier, it is now available with a price tag of Rs. 8,999. These price cuts are a part of the company's 5th-year-anniversary (India operations) celebrations.

The price cut makes it an even better deal as the higher-end 64GB variant is now available for the price of the base variant. Also, it is now more aggressively priced to give a tough competition to smartphones like the Asus ZenFone Max M1.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Specifications

Xiaomi Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1440x720 pixels. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, which is an octa-core processor based on the 12nm process and clocked at 2GHz. It packs in 3GB of RAM coupled with either 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage. The storage is further expandable using a microSD card. All of this is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.

On the optics front, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 comes with a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 12-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.
