Xiaomi is now gearing up to bring the Redmi Note 7 smartphone in India. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the launch
Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi recently unveiled the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro in China. The company is now gearing up to bring at least one of the two devices to India. It looks like for now Redmi will only launch the Redmi Note 7 in India and it will compete directly against the likes of Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2, Realme 2 Pro and the recently launched Samsung Galaxy M20.
While the Redmi Note 6 Pro was a minor upgrade over its predecessor, the Redmi Note 7 will completely change the game. The smartphone now comes with a glass sandwich design along with a gradient design at the back. This makes the Redmi Note 7 one of the best looking phones under the Redmi line-up. It also brings in a 48-megapixel camera, which is way better than its predecessors.
As far as the launch is concerned, the Redmi Note 7 is expected to launch in India sometime in February 2019. The smartphone is expected to be priced at around Rs. 9,999 for the base variant as it sells for around CNY 999. If Redmi manages to pull off such aggressive pricing, it will make the budget smartphone competition even tougher in the country.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and a water drop style notch. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which is clocked at 2.2GHz. It packs in up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, which is further expandable using a microSD card. The device runs on Android-based MIUI 10. All of this is backed by a massive 4,000mAh battery.
As for the optics, the Redmi Note 7 sports a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 48-megapixel primary and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, there is a 13-megapixel selfie shooter.
