Following up on the footsteps of Huawei, Xiaomi is now working on a new smartphone with a 48-megapixel rear camera.
In the smartphone industry, when a trend is started by one company, others tend to soon follow up. While Samsun recently unveiled the Galaxy A8s with Infinity O Display, Huawei is working on their View 20 with a punch hole camera. Now, Xiaomi is joining the contest and coming up with a smartphone with something similar.
Xiaomi's president Lin Bin has shared a new teaser image which reveals an upcoming smartphone. The teaser image claims that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is working on a smartphone with a 48-megapixel camera at the back. Speculations are that the smartphone could either be the Mi 9 or Mi Mix 4.
However, a few reports are claiming that the new smartphone will be a part of the company's Redmi series. Interestingly, Redmi series are more focused towards affordability. So, it would be quite interesting to see how Xiaom manages to put in such camera tech onto a budget smartphone.

Moreover, just like the Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4, the upcoming phone by Xiaomi will also have a hole in the display for the front-facing camera. Apart from this, the phone is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor and will feature an LCD panel from BOE.
As this is a Redmi phone, Xiaomi will do some cost cutting here and there. It is being said that the upcoming phone will have a huge chin instead of a truly bezel-less display. However, we have to wait until the company gives us more information on the device.
