Xiaomi today launched the Mi Mix 2 and the Mi Note 3 side-by-side

Xiaomi today in China has launched two new smartphones one being the highly anticipated Mi Mix 2. Alongside the Mi Mix 2, the company also decided to launch the successor to the Mi Note 2, the Mi Note 3. The Mi Mix 2 was one of the most awaited smartphones of the year as it comes with a bezel-less display. The predecessor of the newly launched Mi Mix 2 performed well and had an appealing design. With the Mi Mix 2, the company made some advancements and basically got rid of the flaws in the Mi Mix like the average camera has now been upgraded. However, Xiaomi made the hype even more by launching the two devices just a day ahead of the Apple's launch event.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

The Mi Mix 2 features a 5.99-inch Full HD bezel-less display with a resolution of 1080x2160 and a pixel density of 403ppi. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with the Adreno 540GPU. The phone comes in different variants depending on the RAM and the storage. The phablet is available with 64/128/256 GB coupled with 6GB of RAM. There is also a variant with 8GB of RAM which comes with 128GB of onboard storage. Under the hood powering up the device is a 3,400mAh battery. The Mi Mix 2 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Xiaomi's own MIUI 9 layered on top of it.

On the optics front, the Mi Mix 2 sports a 12-megapixel camera at the back phase detection autofocus, Optical Image Stabilization and a dual tone LED flash. The front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.

As far as the pricing is concerned, the Mi Mix 2 starts at CNY 3,299 (roughly Rs. 32,300) for the base variant which comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs. 35,300) whereas the 256GB internal storage and 6GB RAM combinations comes at a price of CNY 3,999 (roughly Rs. 39,200). The Special Edition of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 which comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at CNY 4,699 which roughly converts to Rs. 46,000.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels and a pixel density of 401ppi. The Mi Note 3 comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage options. All of this is backed by a 3,500mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Xiaomi's own MIUI 9 layered on top of it.

In the camera department, the Mi Note 3 comes with a 12-megapixel dual camera setup at the back with 2x optical zoom, phase detection autofocus and a dual tone LED flash.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is priced at RMB 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,500)  for the 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant. The 128GB storage variant costs RMB 2,899 which roughly converts to Rs. 28,400. There is also a variant with blue colour which only comes in the 6GB + 128GB configuration. The blue colour variant is priced at RMB 2,999 (roughly Rs. 29,400).
