Airtel launches Wynk Tube app to compete against YouTube Music

Airtel has launched a new music streaming service in India, Wynk Tube. Here's everything you need to know about the YouTube Music competitor.

Airtel introduces Wynk Tube app in India.

Bharti Airtel has just released a new application called Wynk Music. The application is now available on both Android devices via the Google Play Store. It is over-the-top music streaming service app, similar to the recently launched YouTube Music application.

While their regular Wynk app only allowed the users to stream music, the Wynk Tube app is more like the YouTube Music app where you can stream both music as well as videos. In order to reach maximum downloads, Airtel managed to keep the size of the regular Wynk Music app as low as 5MB. Also, it is worth noting that the service is free for Airtel users with unlimited streaming and downloads.

Currently, the app only has content in a few languages including English, Bhojpuri, Punjabi and Hindi. However, Airtel confirmed during the launch that it will soon bring over 12 more Indian languages including Kannada, Marathi, Telegu and Tamil. Also, the app is only available for Android and should soon make its way to iOS as well.

The app language can be changed to Hindi or English. Wynk Tube currently boasts over 40 lakh songs and related videos. The company claims that the app also comes with a deep voice-enabled search for easy search of music.

Additionally, the app auto pulls all MP3 music files from the phone's local storage and use the as a part of customised playlists.
