Google has just announced the much-awaited rollout of the Android 13 Developer Preview. As an early Valentine treat, Android developers can now install the next iteration of Android on the supported Pixel devices. While it is exciting news for all the Android fans out there, one must note that this is barely a first look at the next major operating system.
Android 13 Developer Preview has been made available for the supported devices via Google’s Developer page. In case you are excited to check out the new build, you will have to wait until April as that is when Google intends to roll out the first beta build of the operating system and the stable public build should be rolled out sometime after July.
What's new on Android 13
As for what is new in the update, Android 13 focuses majorly on privacy and security. The update introduces a new photo picker system that has been optimized for sharing photos online. Now, the device will not let the app read through all the documents or photos and instead users will be asked to pick the stuff that they would like to share with the app. This will eventually be made available for all Android users running Android 11 and higher (except Android Go).
Furthermore, apps will now be able to connect to nearby Wi-Fi devices without needing location permission. Google has also streamlined the process of adding custom tiles to Quick Settings.

Android 13 will also let users pick a language on a per-app basis preference, which will suit multilingual users.
All the Android developers can start testing the latest build of Android 13 by flashing the system image onto the Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 XL, or Pixel 4. The build labelled TPP1.220114.001 can be downloaded via Google’s official website.
