Apple iPhone 8 may start at $1,200: Report

Apple iPhone 8 may be starting from $1,200 (Approximately Rs. 77,446) according to a report by John Gruber a writer and podcaster. If this report is true then the iPhone 8 will cost almost double of the starting iPhone 7, which starts from $650 (Approximately Rs. 41,944). In the report, Gruber has said that the 64GB variant of the iPhone 8 will cost $1,200 and the 256GB variant will be coming in for $1,299.

There are many rumours regarding the price of the upcoming flagship of Apple to be upwards of $1,000.

$1,500 as a starting price is probably way too high. But I think $1,200 is quite likely as the starting price, with the high-end model at $1,300 or $1,400,

Gruber wrote

We are covering this report, as the source is trustworthy, and has got his Apple stories always right in the past. He claims that due to supply issue the units produced are constrained and there is a high demand, so to not stress themselves out Apple will release the iPhone 8 at a record price.

It sounds to me like the OLED iPhone is a phone which Apple can’t make 40 million of per quarter, at least not today. And if that’s true, that means it should be more expensive. Not should in any moral sense, but simply because that’s how the principle of supply and demand works. When supply is constrained and demand is high, prices go higher. Apple iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus

Another report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple is highly likely to introduce the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus priced in the similar range to its predecessors. Both of these smartphones will get minor upgrades.

The iPhone 7S and 7S Plus sound like exactly what you’d expect from an S model year: same form factors as last year, with upgraded components and a new A-series system on a chip. There is no reason to expect these phones to cost less than today’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus do. If Apple were going to sell the fancy new OLED iPhone Deluxe at the same prices as today’s iPhone 7 models, there would be no 7S or 7S Plus — they would just keep the existing 7 and 7 Plus and lower their prices by $100.

He also mentioned in his report that both the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus will sport LCD Panels instead of the OLED panels being rumoured for the iPhone 8. And all of these smartphones will be released by Apple in September.
