Google, just launched an update to the Google Assistant. The new update lets you interact with it entirely in Hindi. It doesn't bring a lot of new features, but it brings an entire language to use. You can now fire up the Google Assistant and talk to it in Hindi. Earlier, You have to use English only
“The Google Assistant is truly Indian, it’s your helpful dost that speaks our language and understands the things you care about, from finding biryani recipes, to pulling up the latest cricket score or finding directions to the nearest ATM. In order to make it even more useful to Indians over time, developers and businesses can now build Actions for the Hindi Assistant through the developer platform Actions on Google. Once an action is built, you can just say “Ok Google, talk to” and access the service or content straight through your Google Assistant.”
-Purvi Shah, Technical Program Manager for Google Assistant
The new Hindi Assistant is powered by Machine Learning and Natural language processing as the original. This means it can help context, and the intent of the messages way better than normal Assistants. This enables you to maintain a conversation like commands with the software. Also, it learns based on usage, so it will get better with time.
Now, you can ask your Google Assistant things in Hindi. These things include “sabse pass walla petrol pump kaha hai” for location-based help, or “India aur Pakistan ka alga cricket match kab hai” to get updates on the cricket. “Aaj ka tapman kya hai” will give you weather reports for your current area.
It even works with things like, “paanch minute ka timer lagao” to set a timer, or, “calender kholo” to open the default Calendar or even just, “whatsapp devesh aa raha hu main bas 5 minute mein" to send a WhatsApp message. For a full list of Hindi commands, you can check out the website here.
To set it to work in Hindi, make sure you have the latest app update and then set our phone language to Hindi. If oyu have got the latest version, it should work. If not, you will need to wait for the latest version.
