Google makes travelling in cabs at night safer by adding Stay Safe feature to Google Maps. Here's how to set it up.
Google has introduced a new feature for its Maps application, dubbed, Stay Safer. The feature will allow users travelling in autorickshaws and cabs to stay safer by notifying them when their vehicle is headed off-route. Additionally, the feature also shares the live location to family and friends.
According to Google, the app will send an immediate alert notification to the user if the cab driver deviates more than 0.5 km from the suggested route of Google Maps. This feature will be quite helpful or people travelling alone at night and it is also one move forward for women's safety.
The feature is now available on all Android smartphones with the latest Google Maps update available on Google Play Store.
In order to use the feature, first, the user needs to ensure that the Google Maps application is up-to-date on their Android smartphone. Now they simply have to search for a destination and the option for ‘Stay Safer’ feature will appear. Once clicked on that, users will get two options, 'Share live trip' and ‘Get off-route alerts’ options.
