How To

How to change default apps on an Android smartphone

Android operating system has been one of the most popular and most used operating systems in the smartphone industry as it offers the users a lot of customisations. A large number of applications on the Android's Google Play Store often tend to confuse many people on which one should be used. Now, if you desire to set an application as default for certain actions or want to change the already set default application, here is a full step-by-step guide.

Set a Default application

Once you have downloaded an application from the Google Play Store, it might not be your default app just yet. You will need to set an application as a default one in order to skip the other apps which do a similar work. Here for an example, we will download a launcher from the Play Store. Once it is downloaded, we tap the home button to get the dialog box asking us to set it as default or not. For some apps, you might need to open the application.

Here in the dialog box, if we tap on "Always" by selecting the app, the application will be set as default on the device.

Change the Default application

So you might have downloaded an application and have set it as your default one by mistake. Don't worry, as we here at BeetleBite always have you covered. To remove an application from defaults list, follow the simple steps.

  • Head over to Setting>Apps and locate the application opening by default (in our case Nova Launcher)

  • You will now need to find "Clear Defaults" which could be inside "Open by Default" and tap on it

After you complete following the steps, head over to the application of your wish and when prompted by a dialog box, set as default if you wish or just head over with "Just Once" so you can switch between both the applications.
