HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ with 18:9 displays launched: Specifications and more

HTC, the Taiwanese tech giant, has unveiled two new smartphones. The two new Desire smartphones include the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+. The company made the announcement via their official twitter handle. The highlight of the smartphones is the introduction of HTC’s ‘Liquid Surface’ design which offers a premium look and feel to the smartphones.

Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, the HTC Desire U12 is powered by the MediaTek MT6739 SoC which is a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz. The Desire U12+ is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core chipset. The Desire U12 sports a 5.5-inch display while the Desire 12+ comes with a 6-inch display. Displays on both the smartphones come with a resolution of 1440×720 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio.

HTC Desire 12 packs in 2GB of RAM coupled with 16GB of onboard storage. Desire 12+, on the other hand, has 3GB of RAM and double the storage at 32GB. The Desire 12 is backed by a 2730mAh battery while the Desire 12+ comes with a 2965mAh battery under the hood. The Desire 12 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat whereas the Desire 12+ runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

On the optics front, the HTC Desire 12 features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The Desire 12+ sports a dual camera setup at the back which includes a 13MP and a 2MP camera sensor. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel camera on the Desire 12 and an 8-megapixel camera on the Desire 12+.

In terms of connectivity, both the smartphones support 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
