Instagram now lets users add hashtags and profiles in their bio

Social media Giant, Instagram is keen on making the experience even better for its users. They recently added a new feature to help the user in expressing themselves even more. Instagram now lets users add hashtag and profile links in the bio. Now user can include a # or @ in their bio and they become live links. These love links will lead to a hashtag page or another profile. Last year, in December the company rolled out a feature giving users ability to follow hashtags. Now this will allow users to flaunt the hashtags they follow. Also, traditionally hashtags on Instagram are representative of users interests.

"With hashtag and profile links in your bio, you can express yourself and your interests right in your profile. Whether you’re a #guitarlover, into #pencilsketching or have a #makeuptutorial account, now you can link to any hashtag or profile you want."

Instagram users can now add a hashtag or profile link in their bio. This can be done by tapping on ‘Edit Profile’. In the next page, users can add a # or @ in bio section to create live links on a hashtag page or for another profile. Instagram also shows live suggestions like it shows on new post or search page. This will help users discover new hashtags while adding the once they know. All the hashtags and profile links they add in their profile will be automatically linked without any extra effort at the user's end.

This is not all that the company is planning to do. Instagram is also wanting to add video and voice call features in its app. According to a report by TechCrunch, they found hidden icons for “call” and “video call”  in their teardown of the Application Package(.apk). In a separate report by WABetaInfo, they found icons related to voice and video calling in the App itself. This suggests that the next feature in Instagram will be video and voice calling.
