Netflix has partnered with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT search to its platform. The new feature will help users search things to watch according to their mood.
Netflix has again taken on itself to introduce something new in the streaming business. The company has now partnered with OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, to power its search. According to a report by Bloomberg, this new ChatGPT powered search feature will help users to "look for shows using far more specific terms, including the subscriber’s mood, for example."
The report further stated that the new OpenAI-powered search feature will allow users to make queries that "go well beyond genres or actors’ names."
This new feature is an optional add on feature for Netflix users that can decide to opt-in. The feature is currently live on iOS in Australia and New Zealand, and will soon be making its way into other markets. We personally tested the feature in Australia and it seems to be working well.
The company in a press statement to US based publications announced that the feature will be made available to US based customers "in the coming weeks and months." However, it did not provide an accurate timeline for the same. The company also confirmed that as of now it does not have any ambitions to make the feature available outside of its iOS app.
We reached out to Netflix, asking when the feature will make its debut in the Indian market, and are yet to hear back.
Take note, that the feature is currently in its beta stages, so it might take a long time to make its way to every Netflix user. However, if its popular amongst users, we do no0t think that Netflix willo take that long to launch it, as it will help them increase their watch time and increase user retention.
