Ola Electric puts Ola S1 production on halt to ramp up S1 Pro's production

Ola Electric has sent out emails to its Ola S1 customers on January 15, intimating them about the halt in production of the vanilla Ola S1 electric scooter.

Ola Electric has announced that it is halting the production of its Ola S1 electric scooter, and will instead focus on manufacturing the Ola S1 Pro. The company claims that the Pro variant has seen a lot more demand compared to the vanilla Ola S1. Due to the production halt, the company is offering Ola S1 customers a chance to upgrade to Ola S1 Pro.

Ola Electric has sent out emails to Ola S1 customers on January 15, intimating them about the halt in production of the vanilla Ola S1 electric scooter. Stating that the scooter will become available later this year. Apart from this, the mail mentioned that if interested Ola S1 buyers can upgrade to Ola S1 Pro by paying the premium in the next payment window, on January 21 at 6 PM IST.

The email further states that the company will dispatch Ola S1 Pro electric scooters in January and February, and deliveries may take between 10 to 20 days after dispatch, depending on the location of the buyer and regional transport office (RTO) process requirements.

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal later that day tweeted that the company is offering Ola S1 Pro features to Ola S1 owners via a performance upgrade. This means that Ola S1 owners will get all of the features including the Ola S1 Pro's range, hyper mode, and other features. However, take note that the performance upgrade costs Rs 30,000.

While this is good news for Ola S1 Pro customers, vanilla model customers once again have to go through a painful delay. With this news, either customers will have to wait for the end of 2022 to get their Ola S1 or just cough up more money to upgrade to the Pro variant. Moreover, this is even more painful, considering Ola S1 customers will have to wait just like others to put in their order upgrades for the S1 Pro on the scheduled date.
