Chinese smartphone manufacturer, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5T last November. With it came the blazing fast FaceUnlock feature. The Company promised to roll out the FaceUnlock to its older devices as well. The beta ROM confirmed this few months ago. However, now the company has rolled out a global public update regarding the same. The new Update enables the FaceUnlock feature on the OnePlus 3/3T.
What does new Update Brings
The new update for the OnePlus 3/3T brings many new features and software improvements. Here is a list of all the changes it brings.
- Updates the Android Security Patch to May 1st, 2018
- Adds FaceUnlock
- Refined Self UI Design
- New design for App shortcuts
- Supported more options while long pressing an icon
- Places: a map view of photos by location added in the gallery
- Added a recently deleted collection in the gallery
- Added Large Files Category in the File Manager
- A new weather widget fo launcher
- Improved position accuracy in the weather app
- Adjusted refresh rate for the weather update
How to get the Update
The update is available to all via the OTA. However, you may not get a notification or your region may not have got the update yet. As OTA updates can take time to roll out. To check for updates go to Settings->System Updates->Check for updates. If it says your system is up to date. Then your region might not have got the update yet.

We know for a fact that the India and United States has not got the update yet as of writing this post. However, The Canada region is receiving the update. You can wait for your region to get the update. However, if you wish you can download it from Canada Region. Here is how to do it.
Firstly you will need a VPN to mock your internet connection from Canada. You can use any Free VPN from the play store. We used the "Turbo VPN"(Not a paid promotion). Use the VPN to connect to Canada. Now your internet traffic will be redirected via Canada. Now you can go to Settings->System Updates->Check for updates. You should get the update. Start the update download and then turn off the VPN. The update should continue to download and install like normal.
