Recently, there have been a lot of rumours and reports surrounding the OnePlus 5T. There have been rumours stating that the new OnePlus 5T will not come with a 3.5mm audio jack and will only support Bluetooth headphones. However, today Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder & CEO announced in a blog post that on the OnePlus forum that the upcoming flagship OnePlus 5T will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
"Whether it’s in the area of hardware or software, our focus is on producing superior product experiences. Every feature, removed or added, is based on our understanding of user needs. For the time being, we think it’s best to stick with the headphone jack,"
said Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO in the blog post
The company says to have had conducted a survey in the OnePlus community, in which almost 70 percent of the users told them that their main priority was sound quality. And due to the wireless technology not being so advanced in terms of audio as compared to wired headphones the company decided to keep the 3.5mm audio jack inside the new OnePlus 5T.

Additionally, in the blog post, Pete mentioned that nearly 80 percent of OnePlus device owners utilise the audio jack to listen to music, and if they removed it and used the USB Type-C port for headphones this would allow them to slim down their smartphones. However, when they assessed the trade-offs they decided to keep it as if removed user satisfaction would go down. We do think that at some point the world will have to move away from the 3.5mm audio jack and start using new technologies.
