Huawei Sale — Huawei Grand Sale to kick off on September 11

Huawei recently hosted a two-day sale on Amazo India where it offered discounts on the smartphones like Huawei P20 Lite, P20 Pro and the Nova 3. The company seems to have generated a good amount of sales number which is why the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has announced another sale and this time it will last for 3 days. The sale is set to kick off on September 11 via Amazon India and will end on September 13.

The company made the announcement via their official twitter handle. Huawei P20 Pro and Nova 3 are most likely a part of the sale once again. Even the P20 Lite and Nova 3i might get some offers.

Looking back at the two-day sale which happened recently, the company offered up to Rs. 5,000 off on the smartphones. Other offers included no-cost EMI of up to 12 months and extra cash back on using SBI debit or credit cars. This time around the company might come up with similar offers.

If the offers are to be repeated, the Huawei P20 Pro which is currently available for Rs. 64,999 will be available for as low as Rs. 59,999. The P20 Lite is expected to get a discount of Rs. 2,000 bringing its price down from Rs. 19,999 to Rs, 17,999. During the last sale, the Nova 3 did not get much discount while the Nova 3i received a price cut of just Rs. 500.

OnePlus recently rolled out the first OxygenOS Open Beta for the OnePlus 6 which brought the latest version of Android with it. The company has now started rolling out the Open Beta 2 which brings in some improvements and optimises the whole operating system. Here's everything you need to know about the OnePlus 6 Open Beta 2 update.

The OxygenOS Open Beta 2 update weighs in at around 1.5GB and users who are already on the Open Beta 1 will get the update via OTA (over-the-air). The update brings in improved stability for Wi-Fi connection and optimisations for background power consumption control and the pocket mode. These optimisations should result in an improved battery life.

Further, the changelog claims to bring optimized multitasking UI and optimized image quality for the front-facing camera. The messages app on the OnePlus 6 will now have an improved UI for OTPs. However, some issues which were found on the Open Beta 1 still persist. These issues include Google Pay not working and some applications may not function as expected.

How to send a WhatsApp message without saving the phone number

Open up a browser on your smartphone
Type "https://api.WhatsApp.com/send?phone=number" replacing the "number" with the person's number with the country code.
For example, if the number 987654321 is Indian, you need to type 91987654321
If the person is available on WhatsApp, you will get a page with a link for "Message"
You can tap on that green icon and it will open chat of the person. Now you can send any message without having the need to save his/her number

The news is flooded with Huawei's Benchmark controversy. Huawei was found cheating in benchmarking applications which resulted in higher scores thus showing off a great performance. However, that is not the case for the every-day user or even while playing games the performance does not get the boost. Here's everything you need to know about their cheating.

On Thursday, September 6, AnandTech posted an article where they aimed to expose how Huawei has been cheating the benchmarks. The article suggests that the company is using some sort of artificial intelligence in order to trick the benchmark software and getting higher benchmark scores. These scores help the company to be listed superior to other smartphones brands.

After the problem was exposed, 3DMark, a popular benchmarking app has delisted four smartphones which include the Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Nova 3 and the Honor Play.

According to the article by AnandTech, these smartphones come with a software which detects benchmarking applications and when these apps run their tests the software triggers the device to max out the performance. However, though Huawei is using max power t generate these scores, the processing power cannot remain the same during normal gaming as it will cause thermal issues as well as quick battery drainage.

3DMark started an investigation and the results are shocking. The results of the regular app and 3DMark's internal testing vary a lot. Huawei P20 Pro which managed to score a whopping 2988 with the cheating software bearly made to 1930 without the software. Similarly, Honor Play and Nova 3 received a score of 1847 and 1534 instead of the public score of 2985 and 2915 respectively.

This is not the first time a smartphone manufacturer is being blamed for benchmark cheating. Back in 2017, Chinese smartphone manufacturers OnePlus and Meizu were caught doing something similar. Even the South Korean giant Samsung was caught back in 2013.

In response to the whole controversy, "Huawei explains that its smartphones use an artificial intelligent resource scheduling mechanism. Because different scenarios have different resource needs, the latest Huawei handsets leverage innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence to optimize resource allocation in a way so that the hardware can demonstrate its capabilities to the fullest extent, while fulfilling user demands across all scenarios."

As for the performance boost, "Huawei claims that they respect consumers' right to choose what to do with their devices. Therefore, Huawei will provide users with open access to 'Performance Mode' in EMUI 9.0, so that the user can choose when to use the maximum power of their device."

One feature that I have personally appreciated the most since I have started using Google Photos is the easy search. Photos allow you to easily find any photo by just typing the name of the person in that photo or the location where it was taken. However, at first, you need to tell the app the names of the people and then its an ease. You can easily find a person by typing his name or suppose you had a great weekend in Goa, just search for Goa in the Photos app and you should find all the pictures you took.

2.) Backup

The best part about Google Photos is that it can back up all your photos and videos in a gist. You need to set up the app for the first time, select the folders you want to be backed up and now all your photos are safe. Yes, we know that the Internet or Cloud is not the safest place to keep all your personal photos. However, you at least have a backup of every photo if you lose your phone or in case you just format it by mistake like I usually do.

3.) Google Photos Assistant

Google Photos comes with a personalised assistance which is AI-based and can give you suggestions at times. At times, it brings up photos from the same date of past years. It can even create a collage which you can share on your social media platforms. It even created a short video for my newborn cousin where it showed every picture from the day he was born to the day he started walking.

Google Photos technically uses your Google Drive storage if you want to save the photos in their original quality. However, to save some space the Photos app automatically compresses the images while keeping the quality top notch. This allows for unlimited storage which is separate from the default 15GB storage offered by Drive.

Google Photos is smart enough to recognise repeated photos and can delete them if the user allows. This helps in saving a lot of space and also clears your cluttered gallery.

How to avail the Dairy Milk Offer

Download and Install MyJio app from Google Play Store or App Store
Open the MyJio app
Log in using the SIM method or the OTP method
Now you should see a banner on the top with a Dairy Milk chocolate on it, tap on the banner
