Previous reports have claimed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone will sport a nearly bezel-less design, something which is similar to what we have seen in the company's current flagships Galaxy S8 and S8+. The design being nearly the same, the Note 8 phablet might come with a more squarish design and a larger 6.3-inch display as compared to the 6.2-inch display we saw on the S8+. The Galaxy Note 8 is also rumoured to be the first smartphone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 chipset. The phablet will sport a dual camera setup at the back with two 12-megapixel sensors and independent OIS (optical image stabilisation) for each lens. It is also expected that under the hood the smartphone will have a 3,300mAh battery.

Samsung may launch another flip phone with 6GB of RAM

The South Korean giant, Samsung is reportedly working on another premium flip smartphone. Last year, Samsung introduced the W2017 and this year they are coming with an upgraded W2018. W-series is said to be restricted to few Asian markets only, however, there were rumours of W2017 making its way to the international markets.

As per a report by BGR, the W2018 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM. The phone is also said to have an internal memory of 64GB. However, these new specifications contradict what the flip phone's specifications got leaked on a trusted source TENAA. The W2018 was spotted on TENAA with the model number SM-G9298 where the listing showed that the smartphone came with the same display and storage variants as of the W2017. The listing showed the smartphone with Snapdragon 821AB chipset paired with 4GB of RAM.

The design language would be the same where one display would be on the outer portion and the other display would reveal on opening the flip. Th flip phone will also include a physical alpha-numeric keyboard. All this is said to be backed by a 2,300mAh battery. As per the reports, the phone will feature a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone is also said to come with Google's Android Nougat operating system.

However, these specifications are not official and are based on few leaks and reports, and the official product may come with a slightly different set of specifications. The company may charge a premium for the W2018 and will give it a price tag of around $2,000 (roughly Rs. 1,28,500).

Sony Bravia A1 series with 4K HDR X1 processor launched in India

Sony India has today announced a premium flagship lineup of OLED TVs aimed at redefining the future of home entertainment. With cutting-edge TV technology, the new A1 series delivers optimal brightness levels and stunning visual experience. The OLED TV pairs the brilliance of 4K clarity with brightness, colour and detail of High Dynamic Range (HDR) and is coupled with unique image processor and display device technologies. A1 series boasts of a unique sound technology with Acoustic Woofers, thereby being the world’s first large screen TV producing powerful sound from the screen itself. The indigenous innovation consists of subwoofers and actuators creating an immersive sound experience.

OLED technology for incredible contrast and lifelike colours

With over 8 million self-illuminating, individually controlled OLED pixels, the A1 series brings a significantly enriched visual experience with unprecedented black, authentic colour, blur-less image and a wide viewing angle. Sony’s unique OLED technology enables one to explore the world that’s totally authentic and closer to reality.

Acoustic Surface revolutionising sound technology

Sony BRAVIA OLED’s innovations do not end with incredible picture performance. Taking advantage of the OLED’s backlight-less structure, Sony developed a new Acoustic Surface Technology which can emanate sound directly from the screen itself. An integrated subwoofer behind the TV provides deep, powerful bass for all movie experiences. The two innovative actuators behind the TV vibrate the screen to create a sound that's truly engaging. This allows a perfect unification of picture and sound unattainable by conventional TVs. It produces a wide sound and image synchronisation even off to the sides. Together with OLED’s exceptionally wide viewing angle, the A1 series offers unmatched visual and aural experience regardless of viewing position.

One Slate Design

The One Slate concept is an approach that condenses the TV into a single slate, giving a natural elegance for users to experience as a work of art in and of itself. It aims to eliminate every extraneous element from the TV design, allowing users to immerse themselves more fully in the viewing experience. One Slate mould has the OLED display technology incorporating all the different functions within the screen itself thereby eliminating the need for distinct elements like speakers, a bezel, or a stand. For the audio, the sound is incorporated into the screen using new sound technology that generates sound through vibrations in the display itself, consolidating the visual experience and the aural experience into a single slate. The TV has a sleek, natural presence in wall-mounted configurations too, and the overall structure is kept minimal with a primary display slate and a support slate on the back.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active design leaked, resembles S8

South Korean giant, Samsung has been working on a rugged version of their flagship Galaxy S8, which could be called as the Galaxy S8 Active. Active series was started with their 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4. Due to the popularity gained by that phone, Samsung decides to launch it for every flagship. To make the rumours about the S8 Active true, we have the leaked images and a tip on the specifications.

Images of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active have been leaked by an employee at Samsung, San Francisco. The images clearly show that the S8 active resembles a lot to the S8. Reports suggest that the specifications also could be the same, but here for a twist the company provides a 4,000mAh battery instead of 3,000mAh or 3,500mAh which was found in S8 and S8+ respectively. The battery capacity is clearly shown with the phone's model number SM-G892A.

Samsung S8 Active back
Battery Capacity

Galaxy S8 Active features the same 5.8-inch AMOLED display like in the S8, but this time it is without the curves. The display on the S8 Active is completely flat which will make installation of screen protectors easier. However, the phone has a rugged design and is more durable than the S8 and S8+. Samsung had to give up on the curved edges just to make the smartphone more durable.Reports also claim that this time Samsung has replaced the Active button which was exclusive for the active series with the Bixby button.

As far as the specifications are concerned, Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will have some of the same specifications as of the S8. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage which is further expandable via a microSD card. On the camera department, S8 active could use the same 12-megapixel camera at the rear and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

As of now, there is no information on when the smartphone will launch and how much would it cost.

Top 5 reasons not to buy the new JioPhone

Reliance Jio's 4G VoLTE feature phone which was introduced by the company on July 21, is now up for a "Keep me posted" registration on the company's website. Many people might have already registered while others may do it soon. There is nothing so perfect, so whats bad with the JioPhone? Here are 5 reasons which we think can stop you from going in for the JioPhone.

  • It's not absolutely free: The JioPhone which is advertised to be sold at a price of Rs. 0 which makes it a free phone. But there is a catch, the company says that if the phone is just lying around for three months without the monthly recharge, the customer will be no longer be eligible to get the deposited amount back.
  • Smartphones getting cheaper: This new feature phone by Jio has been made free, but with a security deposit of Rs. 1500. The question here is, rather than giving Rs. 1500 for 3Years, why can't a person just buy a contract free smartphone in a world where the 4G VoLTE enabled smartphones have got as cheap as Rs. 3,499.
  • Less Supported Apps: JioPhone is said to come with the Facebook app and set of Jio Apps and will soon get support to WhatsApp Messenger. The phone still lacks many applications like YouTube which is widely used in India.

  • Manufacturer: As per few reports, it is said that the units of JioPhone will be manufactured by Intex and Foxconn Technology. Both the manufacturers might release the phones with a slight difference and users will not get an option to choose the manufacturer. Also, there is no word on warranties and where people can go for getting their phones serviced.
  • No proper lines: It is said by the company that the phone will go for registrations in the month of August, however, we don't know when one would receive his/her device. Also, the person has to give the security deposit at the time of registration.

Top 5 reasons to buy the new JioPhone

There has been a lot of hype lately about the Reliance Jio's new 4G VoLTE feature phone. The phone was introduced on July 21.The phone has gained a lot of attraction and people are now confused whether to buy it or not. Here is a list of reasons which we feel will tempt you to buy this phone.

  • It's free: Jio has launched this phone at a price of Rs. 0 where the customer only has to pay a sum of Rs. 1500 as a security deposit which Jio will return once the user gives back the phone after 3 years. When we talk about the security deposit, the amount we pay as the deposit is not a large one and can easily justify your three years of experience. However, Jio is a trusted company and there is no scam behind it.
  • Compact: The 4G VoLTE feature phone is a compact phone with a display size of 2.40-inch. The phone is easy to carry and can easily fit into your pocket without any problems. The phone can also be used as a secondary device or a device which can come handy in emergency situations apart from the primary device that you use.

  • More battery-life: As we have got our hands on the phone yet, we cannot claim how many hours the phone would last. However, the phone would significantly last longer than your smartphone and can come handy in situations where the battery of your smartphone dies.
  • Offers: Though Reliance Jio is known for giving extraordinary offers, this phone comes with a different offer where the customer has to pay just Rs. 153 and will get Unlimited calls, SMS and data. Jio might also introduce more offers which could be limited to this device only.
  • Payments Support: The phone also comes with NFC and Jio will soon make quick payments through this mobile available in India.

Above mentioned are the reasons which we feel would attract most customers. There are more reasons to buy this phone, like the support to Jio Apps, an option to cast content from JioCinema app on the JioPhone to TV, support for all Indian languages and voice commands and SOS functionality.

For those who are interested in buying the JioPhone, can now register for "Keep Me Posted" on the company's website and can get an alert once the smartphone is available for purchase.
