Xiaomi's Redmi and TikTok have partnered up to bring a new product in China on January 10. Here's what you need to know
Redmi, Xiaomi's sub-brand has announced a partnership with TikTok in order to launch a product on January 10. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer took Weibo as a medium to make the announcement. With the partnership, the company might be looking into the online content market by offering certain hardware and software support.
In case you are wondering why we called Redmi a sub-brand, Xiaomi recently made the announcement that it is no longer a name for their budget device but a new sub-brand. Instead of going with a whole new name, they chose Redmi as people already have trust in the name.
Neither Redmi nor TikTok have revealed much information on the upcoming product. However, according to the recent leaks and rumours, the Chinese firm is planning to launch a new smartphone on January 10 with a 48-megapixel rear camera. The poster above also suggests that the phone will have a water drop notch on the display up front. It would be the first Xiaomi or Redmi phone to come with such features.

Another first for the Redmi series would be the USB Type-C port, according to a hint thrown by Lei Jun. Reports also claim that the phone will come with a gradient glass back design and a 6.3-inch display. It is said to pack in a 3,900mAh battery.
As of now, the piece of news can be taken with a pinch of salt. We will have to wait until January 10 to know more about the device. The company is hosting the launch event in Bejing China and it is set to begin at 2 PM (local time).
