Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus vs Note 8: Which one should you consider?

Samsung on Wednesday finally launched the most awaited Galaxy Note 8. The phone had so much of attention just because of the last year's disaster which had let down many Note fans. The Note 8 is an impressive smartphone and the front of the device is a lot more familiar to what we have seen with the S8 and S8+. Every year the company keeps somewhat similar design language for the S and the Note series. Not everything is same and that is why we are bringing a quick comparison of the Note 8 and the S8+, letting you know what has changed and what remained.

Design

The design is something which is very similar to both the devices. People loved the Infinity display on the S8 and S8+ because of which Samsung decided to keep the beautiful stunning display. Flip the Note 8, and you will be greeted by a dual-camera setup with the fingerprint scanner sitting right beside. The fingerprint scanner on the Note 8 is similar to the S8+ which is not liked by everyone as the place is not reachable easily. However, the placement of the fingerprint scanner helps in keeping the elegance of the smartphones.

Camera

Live Focus on the Note 8

One of the major difference between the S8+ and the Note 8 is the camera. The S8+ sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, whereas the Note 8 features a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup at the back with OIS on both the camera sensors. So, the camera is something which will make a huge difference between the S8+ and the all-new Note 8. The Note 8 can significantly capture better shots when compared to the S8 or S8 Plus. Not to forget the Note 8 has this awesome feature called Live Focus, which S8+ users can only dream of.

S-Pen

S-Pen, one word which can roll over your decision of buying an S8+ to buying a Note 8. S-Pen is the signature feature of the Samsung's Note lineup and this is what makes it different. The S-Pen is something which not everyone likes, but if one gets used to it, it is a thing the person cannot leave. The stylus on the Note 8 is just not an ordinary stylus as it packs in a whole bunch of features. However, S8+ users can never get the joy of using an S-Pen.

Specifications

Samsung Galaxy S8+ and the Note 8 are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC is the US and China, whereas the other regions have the Exynos 8895 variant. Note 8 comes with 6GB of RAM whereas the S8+ users have the option to choose from 4GB + 64GB variant or the 6GB+ 128GB variant.

Verdict

The S8+ and the Note 8 are flagships from the company and do a pretty good job at delivering great smartphone experience. On the specification front, when compared to the S8 Plus's 6GB RAM variant, both the devices look the same on the paper and should deliver the same performance as well. The major difference comes when we talk about the camera or the S-Pen.

Currently, we are not aware of the exact pricing details of the Note 8, but we know that it would be a bit expensive than the S8 Plus. So, if you are a camera enthusiast or love the S-Pen feature, you might consider buying the Note 8 over the S8 plus and the extra amount spent won't pinch you as the features of the Note 8 will justify the price. If you are on a very tight budget or dual-cameras and the S-Pen don't matter much to you, the S8+ is a great option.
