The Chinese tech giant, Xiaomi recently launched the Xiaomi Mi 5X which had a name of the flagship but came with the specifications of a mid-range device. The company has been reportedly working with Google to make a debut in the pure-stock Android experience. Xiaomi has always been using a custom UI at top of Android which they like to call MIUI. MIUI got a lot of love as well as hate as for what it is. MIUI is custom UI which surely brings out a lot of features, but at the same time brings bulk too. It slows down the device and consumes lot more RAM than a stock Android device.
Xiaomi, from the start, has been great at producing great smartphones at a cheap price. Many people have loved the design language and the hardware specifications of the Xiaomi smartphone, but at the same time have wished to have a pure-stock Android experience. Though people can install custom ROMs with nearly stock Android experience, an out-of-the-box pure stock android experience is always welcome.
When it comes to software updates, the company has always been slower than others as it had to update the whole UI as well. But now with the stock Android coming up for the Mi 5X, users will get a seamless experience with latest software updates delivered on time.
If all this becomes a reality and the devices come out by the partnership of Google and Xiaomi, this could bring out some really great smartphones at a cheaper price. The Android One 5X will initially release in the South East Asian markets. There is no word as of when the smartphone will make its way to other countries.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 5X features a 5.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 4GB of ram and 32/64GB of onboard storage. On the camera front, the smartphone sports a 12-meagpixel dual-camera setup at the back and include a 5-megapixel camera at the front.
However, we have no word on what exactly the specification would be for the pure-stock android variant of the 5X, but we expect a similar set of specifications and a similar price.
