Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 9: Here's if and when your Xiaomi device will receive it

Xiaomi, the Chinese tech giant, on Thursday, launched two new smartphones in India alongside the global launch of the much-awaited MIUI 9. The MIUI 9 is an update to Xiaomi's own custom ROM that runs on the Xiaomi devices. the update brings a bunch of new features to the table alongside major improvements to performance. After making the MIUI 9 official, Xiaomi has now started to roll out the update to its devices. According to Xiaomi, the update will be received by most of its devices including the Mi 2 which is now five years old.

As per Xiaomi, the update will be rolled out in three batches, where, all three of them will be for a different set of devices. Here is the list of devices according to the batches. Xiaomi is expected to roll out the MIUI 9 update for all of its devices before the end of 2017.

Batch 1 (early November)

  • Redmi Note 4
  • Mi Max 2
  • Mi MIX 2

Batch 2 (mid-November)

  • Redmi Y1
  • Redmi Y1 Lite

According to the Xiaomi's compatibility list, here is the list of devices which are eligible to get the MIUI 9 update.

Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1s, Mi Mix 2, Mi Note 3, Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4X.

2016

Mi Mix, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 4, Redmi 4A

2015

Mi Note, Mi 4i, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 4G Prime, Redmi Note 2
