Apple to start manufacturing iPhone 6s Plus in India, Expect a price drop soon

Apple currently imports most of its products to sell in India. Recently, the company started producing iPhone SE's in India. The smartphone was being assembled by Wistron here in India. Now Apple has started a trial production of the iPhone 6s Plus in the country.

Wistron has created a whole new assembly line for the Apple iPhone 6s in India. The smartphone will be assembled at the Bengaluru facility of Wistron. As the smartphone will now be assembled in India, the company will not need to pay any import fees. In a nutshell, the prices of the Apple iPhone 6s are expected to drop once the commercial production starts. As per the executives, the price could drop anywhere from 5-7% for the smartphone.

Specifications

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Apple iPhone 6s Plus features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The smartphone uses an Apple A9 chip coupled with PowerVR GT7600 GPU. The device packs in 2GB of RAM and comes in 32GB and 128GB storage variants. The smartphone runs on Apple's iOS 11.3 operating system. Under the hood, there is a 2750mAh battery powering up the internals.

On the optics front, the 2015 Apple flagship comes with a 12-megapixel camera at the back with f/2.2 aperture and a dual-LED flash. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.

Currently, the Apple iPhone 6s Plus 32GB is priced at Rs. 52,240 on Apple's website. However, you can grab one for less than Rs. 40,000 via e-commerce websites like Flipkart or Amazon.

Once Apple starts producing the smartphone in India, you should be able to get a 32GB iPhone 6s for less than Rs. 35,000.
