Asus is finally launching the much anticipated ROG Phone 2 in China on July 23. Here's what to expect from the next gaming phone.

Asus ROG Phone 2 is expected to come with the Snapdragon 855 processor.

Asus launched its first gaming smartphone last year under the Republic of Gamers branding dubbed ROG Phone. The company is now gearing up to bring a successor as they roll out the media invites for the ROG Phone 2. According to the invite, the smartphone will be unveiled on July 23 at an event in China.

The first generation ROG Phone features a 90Hz display, which is the same as the recently launched OnePlus 7 Pro. With its upcoming smartphone, Asus wants to step up the game by bringing a faster refresh rate at 120Hz. However, it will not be the first phone to come with a 120Hz display as the Razer Phone 2 already has that.

Unlike the ROG Phone, the second generation model needs to get an aggressive price tag if Asus wants to compete against smartphones like Nubia Red Magic 3 and the Black Shark 2. In China, the ROG Phone 2 is expected to be priced at CNY 4.299 (roughly Rs. 43,000). To recall, last year's ROG Phone comes with a price tag of Rs. 69,999 in India.

As of now, we do not know what the smartphone's specifications would be. However, it is quite certain that the ROG Phone 2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.

Interestingly, Asus has also partnered up with Tencent Games for their upcoming smartphone launch. With the help of this partnership, Tencent will optimise all its games to take advantage of the 120Hz display on the upcoming gaming phone.
