Google recently announced a few interesting and exciting features for its suite of Android Go applications. The Google Go application which is a lighter version of the Google app can now read web pages aloud in several different languages. Currently, the language support includes some of the most used Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi and Tamil.

Android Go was introduced by Google back in 2017 and since then it has gained immense popularity especially in markets like India. In India, most people are still unaware of the smartphone world and Android Go allowed manufacturers to bring better entry-level smartphones for the people who just cannot afford mid-range or flagship Android smartphones.

Since India has one of the largest Android Go users, Google is concentrating on bringing features for the particular market. Now with Google Go reading web pages aloud in specific regional languages, people who are illiterate can also start using a smartphone and grab quick information from the internet. It will also help people who do not know English as Google Go will immediately translate the text and read it aloud in the preferred language.

The new feature on Google Go needs an internet connection to work and the way it is optimised allows the feature to work even with 2G connections and uses minimum cellular data. The company aims to bring the website detection feature to its other line of products as well.
