The operating system with it brings a new way to navigate around your smartphone. The now utilises a gesture-based navigation system is a lot like the Apple iPhone X. Many will argue that the MIUI 9.5 also had the same gestures based navigation feature, however, it has been improved significantly. The gestures are very simple and intuitive to use. Swiping from the bottom of the screen gets you to home. Swiping from the bottom and holding for a second gets you to recents menu. Also, swiping from the left or right takes you back and swiping from left or right and holding helps you switch between recent apps.

Nokia 3.1 sure has a solid build but the hardware underneath isn't as powerful as some of its competition. So if you are someone who cares more about the performance, take a look at these alternatives.

Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1

Zenfone Max Pro M1
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box

In case you want a stock Android experience just like the Nokia 3.1 with much better hardware, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 should be your pick. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch FullHD+ display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. The device comes in 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB variants. The smartphone is available at a starting price of Rs. 10,999.

The Nokia 3.1 with its Rs. 10,499 price tag gives direct competition to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which also makes it for a great alternative. The smartphone comes with a 5.99-inch FullHD+ 18:9 display and it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. The Redmi Note 5 is available in India at a starting price of Rs. 9,999.

Top 5 reasons why you should not buy the Vivo Nex

vivo, vivo nex, price, specifications
Vivo Nex comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner

Vivo today launched the much anticipated Vivo Nex smartphone in India. The highlights of the smartphone include its pop-up selfie camera and the in-display fingerprint scanner. It is the latest flagship offering from the company but here are the top 5 reasons why you should avoid this one.

Pop-up camera

The Vivo Nex comes with an all-screen design up front and to achieve that the company had to hide the front-facing camera. As the selfie camera mechanically pops out, the durability and the longevity of the camera, as well as the whole mechanism, is questionable.

Earpiece

Just like the Xiaomi Mi Mix, the Vivo Nex also uses a small vibration motor which is hidden under the display and transmits the sound wave through the whole screen. Though the technology feels futuristic, it is not as good as a normal earpiece. So if you are someone who is always on calls and need a really good audio quality, you might wanna skip this one.

Biometrics Unlock

Unlike the Oppo Find X, the Vivo Nex does not require to pop out the camera everytime the user needs to unlock the phone. This is possible due to the in-display fingerprint scanner on the smartphone. An in-display fingerprint scanner is a futuristic approach but it is not as fast and reliable as a typical capacitive fingerprint scanner.

Software

The Vivo Nex runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based FuntouchOS 4 out of the box. The custom UI on the Nex does bring a ton of features like gesture controls. However, it also brings a lot of bloatware and slows down the device eventually. If you are a kind of a person who prefers stock Android, then this phone is not for you.

Price

Vivo Nex is currently priced at Rs. 44,990 and will be exclusively available via Amazon India starting July 21. The smartphone is not overpriced but considering the fact that this is the first Vivo smartphone to cross the Rs. 30,000 price mark. Also, at around Rs. 45,000, customers can get much better options.

Here are the Top 5 alternatives to the Vivo Nex

OnePlus 6 features a 16MP+20MP dual-camera setup at the back

OnePlus launched their latest flagship, OnePlus 6 a few weeks ago. The smartphone has achieved a whopping score of 96 on its DxO Mark testing. According to DxOMark, the OnePlus 6 was able to achieve such high scores because of the performance of its autofocus.
